Chalcedony is one of the most beautiful varieties of quartz. Chalcedony naturally comes in many colors but it is best known color is a waxy, lilac, chalcedony blue.

Due to its soothing chalcedony blue coloration it was sacred to many Native American healers. When worn blue chalcedony beads were said to bring calm, balance, centeredness, inner knowledge and communication to the wearer. Chalcedony beads have been a popular stone in jewelry design since prehistoric times. The Romans prized chalcedony for seals, while the Victorians used it for cameos. Chalcedony beads are a favorite of jewelry designers even in modern day.
